Pastor Chris Stanfield - Lead Pastor
Chris is a 1998 graduate of Barclay College in Haviland, Kansas. He served at Rose Hill Friends Church, in Rose Hill, Kansas, as youth pastor for 10 years and then served as lead pastor at Chandler Friends Church, in Chandler, Oklahoma, for 8 years before coming to Paonia Friends Church in June 2016 to serve as Associate Pastor. Chris and his wife of 20+ years, Kelly, have three kids, Isaac, Ian and Emma.
Chris and his family love hunting, fishing, camping and generally anything that gets them outside. The whole family is die hard Denver Broncos fans and fourth generation LA Dodgers fans.
Katie Cooley - Children's Director
Katie moved to Colorado in 2001 and graduated from Paonia High School in 2006. She moved back to Alabama to attend the University of Alabama, also participating in the Color Guard for the Million Dollar Band. Katie then decided to pursue her true passion of becoming a hair stylist, and pursued training for that. She met up with a childhood friend from church, Aaron, married him a year later, and they now have three beautiful children. While raising their two boys in Alabama, Katie worked at an elite salon, and Aaron served as a youth and children's minister for five years in their church there. They decided to return once again to Colorado in 2015 to be close to family, the mountains, and to serve the community here. Katie puts a lot of energy and effort into our children's classes for all ages, and is passionate about children knowing the Word of God, loving Jesus, and sharing their faith with others.
Tracy Sturgis – Administrative Assistant
Tracy grew up locally and then went away to attend Point Loma Nazarene University where she met her husband, Jonathan. They, along with their children, Jessica and Jason, moved back to the area in 1995. Jessica married Kolten Brewer in 2010, and Jason married Ashley Sturgis in 2018. Tracy and Jonathan are active in the church and both part of the worship team. Tracy is a local photographer and also works as a Health Information Manager at Senior CommUnity Care. She loves spending time with her kids and grandkids, Zane, Jacob and Easton.
Pam Woods – Treasurer
Pam lives in Hotchkiss with her Black Labrador Retriever, River, and black cat, Zachary. Pam has been active in the church and serving as treasurer for 5 years. She also is part of the Power Point Team.
Jan began his vocal music teaching career in Oregon, and then continued with 27 years in the Delta County School District where he established phenomenal choirs. He is now retired and is a busy member of the Delta County School Board. He enjoys building projects and is a member of the Colorado All State Choir judging pool. He and his wife Sandy are active in the church and Jan is an important part of our Worship Team. They have two grown children, Jana and Jimmy of Indio, California, and Eric of Denver. They do their best to get to Denver and Indio as often as possible to be with the kids and grand kids.
Tim was the local physician at the North Fork Medical Clinic for 18 years, he now sees patients at Surface Creek Family Practice. He is married to Shauna who is a registered nurse and works at Delta Hospital. They have two very active children: Chelsea and Caden, who is attending the Naval Academy. Shauna and Caden are members of the Worship team and the whole family enjoys running marathons and medical mission trips.
Stan is the Executive President and majority owner with his wife Jaylene of Paonia First National Bank. Stan and Jaylene are very involved in our community. They have 3 children, Garrett, Chase and Haley. Stan enjoys raising cattle, horses and taking care of the farm.
Jim was born and raised in Paonia, left in 1999 for college, lived in Colorado Springs, CO, Woodland Park, CO, and Kijabe, Kenya, before returning with his family to live in Paonia in 2013. He is married to Heather, and they have four children, Faith, Joel, Aaron, and Elsa. Jim teaches science at Paonia Junior/Senior High School, and loves the outdoors, gardening, and finding ways to make his yard even more high-maintenance, but it sure is beautiful.
